Wavesound is a simulation and sonofication of raindrops on water. Greatly slowed down, wavesound uses scan synthesis to recreate the sound of the simulated water surface. The sound is entirely generated from the motion of the surface. Three beams sample the surface, rapidly scanning across it. The various parameters of wave speed, dampening, and amplitude are adjusted in real-time during a performance. The water surface is thus played like an instrument, with the sound generated simulatenously. Wavesound makes reference to the quantum theory of nature, that at very short times and very small scales, nature is no longer atomic but guided by superimposed quantum waves
